Claude (claude.ai, plus mobile and desktop apps) is Anthropic's assistant. Users switching from casual ChatGPT use tend to notice three things: writing quality — Claude's default voice is less "AI-sounding," with fewer hype words and stronger long-form coherence, which many professionals prefer for emails, posts, and proposals; long-document work — Claude handles very long inputs gracefully and is strong at reading everything and finding what matters, useful for contracts, reports, and transcripts; and honest pushback — Claude will tell you an idea has problems rather than cheerfully validating everything, which is a feature for strategy work.

Projects work like ChatGPT's: standing instructions plus knowledge files plus grouped chats — set up one per client, product, or life area. Styles let you save writing styles ("my LinkedIn voice," "formal client emails") and switch between them per message; feed it samples of your writing once to create a custom style you reuse forever. Memory lets Claude carry context from past conversations, and you can ask it to remember or forget specific things, or search past chats — turning your chat history into a queryable archive rather than a graveyard.

When you ask Claude for substantial content — a document, a webpage, a diagram, a working mini-app — it opens an Artifact: a live panel beside the chat containing the actual deliverable, which you refine conversationally ("make section 2 shorter", "change the chart to monthly").

The underrated part: Artifacts can be interactive. Non-programmers routinely get working tools out of a single prompt — a calculator that turns ad spend, CPM, CTR, and conversion rate into CAC and break-even ROAS; an interactive onboarding checklist with progress tracking; a quiz that helps a visitor figure out which service tier fits them. You can publish and share artifacts with a link — a first taste of "building software by describing it."

Claude reads uploaded files (PDFs, docs, sheets, images) and searches the web when questions need current information. Beyond reading, Claude can create real files — formatted Word documents, Excel spreadsheets with working formulas, PowerPoint decks, PDFs — that you download and use directly. "Turn these meeting notes into a client-ready proposal as a Word doc" is a genuine one-prompt task.

Three Claude concepts that later modules build on: Connectors (MCP) let Claude connect to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Notion, Canva, and many more, so it can look things up and take actions in your actual tools. Skills are reusable instruction packs that teach Claude a repeatable workflow of yours, like "how we write LinkedIn posts" or "how to produce our monthly ads report" — think of them as SOPs the AI reads and follows on demand. Claude Code & Cowork let Claude act as an agent on your computer.
